Usually the job is not sending the rest
People rarely want to split a PDF for its own sake. They want to send page four. The landlord needs one month of the statement, not six. The claims handler needs the invoice, not the whole correspondence file. HR needs the certificate page, not everything else in the same scan.
Framed that way, splitting is a privacy operation as much as an organisational one, and the tool you use should not require uploading all six months of statements to a stranger in order to hand back one of them. This one reads the file on your device and never sends it.
Split into equal parts, or take exactly what you need
Two different jobs, two different controls. Splitting every N pages divides a long document into evenly sized files — useful for a scanned book, or for a portal that caps uploads at a certain number of pages. You get a ZIP with each part inside.
A page range does the opposite: it pulls out the pages you name and gives you one PDF containing only those. That is the one to use when you want page four, or pages 12–15.
One thing splitting does not do
Splitting removes whole pages. The pages you kept come across intact — including anything on them you would rather not share. If the problem is a figure, a name or an address sitting in the middle of a page you do need to send, that is a different job.
Removing content from within a page means deleting it from the file, not drawing a box over it. A black rectangle in most editors is a rectangle drawn on top; the text underneath is still there and can be copied straight out. Redact PDF removes it properly, and verifies that it is gone.
