Editorial standards
ExactPic's passport, visa, and government-form pages describe rules that affect real applications, so we hold them to a documented standard. This page explains who reviews that content, how we verify it against official sources, and how we handle corrections. It is maintained by the ExactPic Editorial Team.
How we verify requirements
- Every government photo specification is taken directly from the issuing authority's official page — never from a third-party blog or aggregator.
- Each portal page shows the exact official source it was checked against and the date of that check, so you can confirm the primary source yourself.
- We separate mechanical rules we can verify (file size, pixel dimensions, format, aspect ratio) from biometric judgement we cannot (head position, background, lighting, expression). Our tools only check the mechanical rules and say so plainly.
- When an authority requires an unaltered original, the page is set to check-only — it diagnoses the file without resizing, cropping, or re-encoding it.
Review cadence and dates
Each portal page carries a "source checked" date recording when we last compared our summary to the official page. Government requirements change, so we re-verify periodically and update the date and a visible change log on the page. A review date is not a guarantee the rule is unchanged today — always confirm the current requirement on the official page before you apply.
Official sources we track
- U.S. Department of State — travel.state.gov — DV Program photograph requirements
- U.S. Department of State — travel.state.gov — Passport Photo Requirements
- U.S. Department of State — travel.state.gov — Digital Image Requirements
- HM Passport Office (GOV.UK) — gov.uk — Get a passport photo
- Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) — canada.ca — Passport photo requirements

Corrections
If a requirement looks wrong or out of date, tell us and we will re-check it against the official source. Every portal page has a "Report an incorrect requirement" link, or email [email protected]. Confirmed corrections are applied and noted in the page's change log.
Independence and limitations
ExactPic is operated by MASTERPANEL LLC and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any government or passport authority. We do not guarantee any portal will accept a photo; we help you meet the published size, dimension, and format rules. See our about page and terms for more.
