NEET (UG) 2026 photo, signature and thumb-impression upload requirements

The NEET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin lists the images you upload with the application: a recent passport-size photograph in JPG/JPEG between 10 KB and 200 KB, a signature in JPG/JPEG between 10 KB and 100 KB, and the left and right hand fingers and thumb impressions in JPG/JPEG between 10 KB and 200 KB. Certificates — category, PwBD/UDID, Class X, citizenship or address proof — go up as PDFs of 50–300 KB.

The photograph rules are about content as much as size: taken after 01 January 2026, in colour or black and white, with 80% of the face (without a mask) visible including the ears, against a white background. Polaroid and computer-generated photos are not acceptable, and spectacles are allowed only if you use them regularly. The bulletin gives no pixel size, and no ink colour or dimension for the signature. Keep 6–8 passport-size and 4–6 postcard-size (4 × 6 inch) colour prints with a white background for later use — the 2026 bulletin no longer asks for a separate postcard-size upload.

The checkers below are pre-set to each JPG band and can compress a large scan to fit. They verify file size and format only — not the date the photo was taken, the face coverage, the background, or whether NTA will accept the upload. PDFs cannot be checked here.

Set to JPG/JPEG, 10–200 KB. The bulletin states no pixel size, so none is enforced; fix mode compresses a larger photo to fit and does not pad a file under 10 KB.

Step by step

  • Take a passport-size photo after 01 January 2026

White background, 80% of the face visible including the ears, no mask; colour or black and white. No Polaroid or computer-generated photos; spectacles only if you wear them regularly.

  • Scan the signature and finger impressions

Save each as a JPG/JPEG. The bulletin sets only file-size bands for these, not pixel sizes or ink colour.

  • Check and fix each JPG below

Photo 10–200 KB, signature 10–100 KB, finger and thumb impressions 10–200 KB. Certificates must be PDFs of 50–300 KB.

  • Keep prints of the same photo

6–8 passport-size and 4–6 postcard-size prints on a white background are needed later for the attendance sheet and admission.
