JEE (Main) 2026 photo and signature upload requirements

The JEE (Main) 2026 Information Bulletin asks for a recent passport-size photograph in colour, with 80% of the face (without a mask) visible including the ears, against a white background, in JPG/JPEG between 10 KB and 200 KB, and a clearly legible signature in JPG/JPEG between 10 KB and 100 KB. A scanned Class 10 certificate or marksheet goes up as a PDF of 50–300 KB; if you are not verifying through Aadhaar or DigiLocker, an identity proof is uploaded as a JPG/JPEG of 10–200 KB, and a disability or UDID certificate as a PDF of 50–300 KB.

JEE Main and NEET share the NTA file bands but not every rule: JEE Main 2026 requires a colour photo where NEET also accepts black and white, and it states no 'taken after' date. The bulletin also has no cap, spectacles or name-and-date-on-photo rules. Bring the same photograph to the examination centre — it is pasted on the attendance sheet.

The checkers below are pre-set to each JPG band and compress a large file to fit. They verify file size and format only. Face coverage, background, colour and whether NTA will accept the upload are outside what a file checker can judge, and PDFs cannot be checked here.

Check and fix your photo

The tool below is set to the official digital limits. Drop your photo in to check it and download a version that fits.

Set to JPG/JPEG, 10–200 KB. The bulletin states no pixel size, so none is enforced; fix mode compresses a larger photo to fit and does not pad a file under 10 KB.

Verifies JPG/JPEG and the 10–100 KB band and compresses a larger scan to fit. No pixel size is enforced because the bulletin states none; a file under 10 KB is not padded.

PDFs cannot be checked with the image checker. The compress-PDF tool recompresses the images inside a scanned PDF and shows the size before and after — it has no target-size setting, so read the result and make sure it lands between 50 KB and 300 KB.

Compliance note. This checks mechanical file requirements only — file size, pixel dimensions, aspect ratio and format. It does not check face coverage, background, ink colour, legibility, the number of signatures, or whether the examination or recruitment portal will accept your upload.

Step by step

  • Take a colour passport-size photo on white

80% of the face visible including the ears, no mask. Keep a print of the same photo for the attendance sheet at the centre.

  • Scan the signature and, if needed, an identity proof

Save both as JPG/JPEG; the bulletin sets file-size bands only. Class 10 and disability certificates must be PDFs of 50–300 KB.

  • Check and fix each JPG below

Photo 10–200 KB, signature 10–100 KB, identity proof 10–200 KB. Download the fixed files and upload them in the application.

Private by design. Any file you check here is processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded. ExactPic is not affiliated with National Testing Agency (NTA) and does not guarantee acceptance — always follow the official guidance.
